out of context

sometimes in conversations we get snippets that just make us laugh. i completely taken out of context i had to share this snippet.

P: ok. i promise, i will always tell you if you have broccoli in your teeth.
D: thanks, but I need to figure out how to get rid of the butterfly.

it actually made alot more sense in the context of the conversation, but i think it's more fun to leave it to your imagination. :)

More pics and a weird day with movies

Hey everybody,
So David finally got through his photos from his trip to the Constitution State and i was able to update my snaps as well with the pics he took of me (some pretty good ones, if i do say so myself). My updated snaps can be seen here and all of David's pics can be seen here.

In other news... I saw RENT again last night. G-d it was soooooo good. Isra and i were the only ones in the theater so i do have to admit there was some singing involved. (insert sheepish grin here).

Cheryl and I saw Brokeback Mountain yesterday afternoon, after the power was out at work all day and we vacated the premises due to lack of access to jobs or technology. Odd day! i took pictures of us all hanging around the office in the morning in the dark. (which i will have accessible soon). At least there was a coffee and munchkin run to show for our lack of work related activity. Anyway, the movie was FANTASTIC and deserves every award it's won (and been nominated for). i'm really interested in seeing Capote now because Philip Seymour Hoffman must have been outstanding to beat out Heath Ledger for the Golden Globe last week. As it stands, i think Heath deserves every award he can get his hands on. he was phenomenal!!! Jake Gyllenhaal aint so bad either!! What a FINE looking pair of boys they are!

David in Stamford

Well... David was here over the weekend for a visit after his family trip to Israel and although we got off to a rocky start (wrong flight info - not David's fault) I had a great time having him in town again. Sidenote: i have to say that i know the ins and outs of JFK airport really well now! if anybody needs a tour, let me know! ;)

Thursday we lounged around for a while and watched a movie. After lunch at Bennigan's we made a very quick run through the grocery store for provisions and then headed up to New Canaan to see Munich. (i think this part is my fault)... The movie wasnt playing there until the next day so we called my dad who found out that the movie was playing in Greenwich 15 minutes later so we made it down there in record speed. Only to find out that it wasnt playing there until the next day either!! (that's yahoo's fault). What a wild goose chase. We decided that whatever was playing at that theater was what we were going to see. Munich was apparently not in the cards for us. So we saw Syriana. It was really good!! Highly recommend. Here are David's thoughts on the movie as well. I had choir in the evening so we had a quick dinner at home and i went off to sing while he stayed home and worked.

Friday was MUCH slower than i anticipated but i am NOT complaining!! We lazed around for a good portion of the day. (He lazed, i half lazed and half cooked a carrot soufflé). Then Chanukah presents, lunch at Nick's (they really do have the best pizza in the city) and errands. (sounds exciting doesnt it). One of my absolute favorite times of the weekend was a trip to Cove for fun with our cameras. It was cold and SOME people didnt have a coat (or scarf or gloves) so we didnt stay very very long. But i got some really good shots (haven't seen his yet although i'm sure they're great). You can also see a bunch of photos of David from that day (the ones of me are still RAW on his camera, but will be coming soon i hope). In that gallery there are also a few pics of David and his cousin Jen in the city on Saturday night and of David and I on the subway saturday night as well.

Friday night was totally awesome. We had my friend's Lindsey and David over for shabbos dinner. It really was a fun night and i hope we can all do it again some time soon. The boys may have beaten us at Catchphrase but i feel a comeback brewing.

Saturday after shul we went into the city and spent some time at MoMA (the architechture is really beautifully clean) where i tried to explain the intricacies of Walker Evans and Diane Arbus. And after a very cold walk down to meet his cousin we had drinks at this placed called KGB Bar (interesting mix of Russian memorabilia and Ska) and dinner at a great little Thai restaurant at the end of the universe in Chinatown. Oh... I'm sure David wouldn't want me to forget the side trip we took to Queen's via the Queensboro bridge. It was very scary and i freaked out a little bit, but it all ended up well. (Thanks for the calm-down, D. I needed it). You can see pictures from MoMA and our trek around midtown here. Sidenote: I am having SOOOOOOOOO much fun with my new camera.

Sunday morning it snowed at like 6:30 am. Flurries. Nothing major. but to a floridian and current georgia resident, this is cause to run outside in our PJs. YOU ARE EFFING CRAZY!!!! :) Our trip to the airport was happily uneventful and after some lunch and trying (unsuccessfully) to persuade David to buy Order of the Phoenix to read on the plane, we said our goodbyes and i had a very very quiet drive back to Stamford.

Here's a pic of us on the subway (the 6 train) in the city on Saturday night.

All in all it was awesome having him around for a few days. Next up... trip to Atlanta!

stupidity at the post office

I went to the post office this afternoon to buy some 2¢ stamps so that my 37¢ stamps can be used now that the rate hike has been instituted. Apparently everybody else is buying 2¢ stamps because there was a girl in front of me who walked up to the counter and asked for 40 2¢ stamps. and then she asked "So how much is that?" the guy behind the counter looked at her for a moment and then said "uh... 80¢." No child left behind at it's best!!
