gas, bombs and space

i can't help but think about the lack of press a suicide bombing got yesterday when a guy tried to get into a mall in Netanya, Israel, couldn't, and decided to just blow himself up on the crosswalk outside instead. He killed 4 people and left 30 wounded. Why is this less important than the bombs that were set off in London last week? Everybody knows about what occured in London. The only people who seem to care about what happened in Israel yesterday are those who care enough to seek out Israeli news. Both were brought on by terrorist organizations. Makes one thing, doesnt it? At least, it makes me think.
Moving on... the price of gas here is outrageous. $2.61 was the highest i saw for regular today. although the standard is not much better. $2.49-$2.51. makes me sick. makes me wonder what the price of gas would be if our president wasnt a hot shot in the oil industry. I think a lot about what would be different if Kerry were president. sad isnt it? well, only 3 more years to go i guess.
lastly, i'm really happy to see that the space program is getting back on it's feet with the shuttle Discovery lifting off from cape canaveral today. hard to believe it's been 2 1/2 years since the Columbia disaster. We should think about Ilan Ramon and the other astronauts who sacrificed their lives for the advancement of science, those of the Challenger crew in 1986 and those of Apollo 1 in 1967. i'm sure this mission will be a success!
