I’m sure spiderman 3 is a good movie. I’m looking forward to seeing it, but is it good enough to have broken all those records? when will the movie industry start taking into account the inflation of movie ticket prices; higher and higher every year. These movies that have been made in the last few years, each keeps breaking the last's records in box office revenue, aren’t any better than Titanic was in 1998; aren't any better than than casablanca, gone with the wind, the wizard of oz, singing in the rain, west side story and other classic movies that broke box office records in their time. That phrase ‘they just don’t make’em like they used to’ rings so true to me right now. I feel as hollywood churns out these special effects masterpieces, it’s the heavy hitting story writing, acting and directing of a bygone era that ultimately gets the shaft. When the entertainment industry gives such high kudos to 'good' but not 'great' movies merely because they were made in a time of great economic inflation. The rapid record-breaking that’s been a trend in hollywood lately, seems to be a direct correlation to the price of movie tickets. So, until the movie industry learns to scale these box office triumphs on a sliding scale that gives the classics they're due course, i dont want to hear about it!
