political compass

i've seen this before but thought i'd share it as the link was shared with me this afternoon. Of course i scored as i would have expected...

Economic (Left/Right): -5.63
Social (Libertarian/Authoritarian): -3.85

Take the test here

I find it fascinating that my political viewpoint is right next to the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela and Gandhi who is the speaker of one of my most favorite quotes ever "Be the change you wish to see in the world."; and the polar opposite of George W. Bush and Hitler.

sewing maniac

i've tried REALLY hard to not post about this until it's done but i just cant wait any longer. I have been a SEWING MANIAC lately. i am borrowing mom's Singer and having a really good time. i am nearly finished with my charcoal grey kickpleat skirt. it's so pretty. i put the zipper in last night although i have to add that i Hate Hate Hate the zipper foot. it wouldnt quite stay on properly. i want to go back tonight and tighten up the seam on that alittle bit. but anyway... now the only thing left is the waistband that i am hoping to do tonight. (and to hem the bottom) i'm alittle nervous about the interfacing so i hope it goes well.

if i finish it tomorrow there will be pictures up pronto. This skirt is going to hopefully be a staple in my wardrobe because i have a lust for classic lady-like fashion, but secretly i'm making it because it's going to be part of my hogwarts school uniform. (how dorky is that?!)

girly girl

i love that girly feeling you get when you're excited about fun things, but at the same time it's a pain in the ass as my concentration is completely shot. ugh! the upshot is that i have hardly any appetite. ;)

all of this is compounded by the fact that i watched the zeffarelli romeo and juliet last night and have quotes flying around my head and good mental images of pretty people. i'll leave you with this...

"i have more care to stay than will to go. come death and welcome, juliet wills it so." ahhhh obsessive teenage love. g-d i love the bard.

sweet denny

is it bad that it's weeks into the new season of grey's anatomy and i STILL miss denny? Why did he have to die?? wasnt he the greatest?

poor izzy... and poor poor us!

ahhhhh new york

i hear silly stuff in new york all the time... this site (thanks carrie) encapulates some of that... http://www.overheardinnewyork.com/. my favorite...

Hipster guy: So she said in a few years, she would be ready for children.
Hipster girl: So what did you say to her?
Hipster guy: I told her in a few years, I would be ready for a puppy, or a houseplant. Or maybe a mountain bike.
Hipster girl: That was the wrong answer.

Baby/kid picture posting at work is over now but I thought i would post another picture or two of me as a kid anyway. this time in dance recital mode. I think i was about 7 or 8 when these were taken. One was Raggedy Anne and Andy and the other was Hop Scotch Polka.
