bye bye chanukah

it's over and it was uneventful. am i getting to old? or is it that my mother bought the few things i got while i was with her. wha the hell? apparently, i'm too old for surprises. the gloves i found at target are very warm though. i wore them yesterday while i was trudging around St. John's University. At least i didnt feel sooooo old this time while eating lunch in the cafeteria. Last time i was with my boss and project manager who are both my parents age. ugh! Would have been even better if i'd been wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, but alas, i was at a business meeting so slacks and a sweater it was.

also we cant forget that the BIG chanukah present is coming on January 7th when i get to share space with Idina Menzel and see WICKED! On the today show this morning they 4 hosts did their gift giving and Matt gave Katie a visit from Glinda (not Kristen Chenoweth, but the new girl) and an opportunity at some point in the future to stand in for Glinda and sing Popular. How cute is that? so cool... just hope it isnt the show I go to see. wait until Idina leaves please! (the picture below links you to the webpage. aren't i clever?)

numb face

so my back was bothering me the other night so i took a muscle relaxer and i dozed off. woke up an hour or two later and my face felt weird. numb or swollen. not right. my whole body felt weird but i guess that's par for the course. it was strange though. listen up kiddies. do not take mind altering drugs. if this is how i feel after one muscle relaxer, can you imagine what a hit of acid would do to me? good thing i never tried anything THAT wacky in high school. ok, who am i kidding. i didnt try anything wacky in high school... well, no wacky substances at least. ;)

you know, new years is quickly approaching and i started to freak out alittle this morning. so... i sent out an email and now i have an invite to a party. amazing how that works! if a friend of mine is unbusy i'd like to take him with me... but we'll have to wait and see what his plans are (if any). :)

in other news, i went to this cool place called Hand Painted in downtown stamford. I painted a mug blue with yellow and pink flowers and a green handle. i'm very excited. i love having friends with kids that i can do fun cool kid stuff with! life is never quite as cool as seen through the eyes of kids not yet in their teens.

candle #7 tonight. happy chanukah!

cows with guns...

some people have way too much time on their hands. i got this from somebody a while ago and just found it while cleaning out my inbox. check it out. you'll laugh. click on the cow.

anyway... my week is going much better than last. I've been doing alittle freelance work designing a brand (logo, business cards etc) for a friend of a friend who is starting a real estate business. It's been alot of fun because i don't ever get to design logos and do really fun stuff at work. nor do i often get praise for the work i do. but i guess that's par for the course. anyway... my client has been very happy with the stuff i'm doing for her so i thought i would show you the logo she picked. it's my 2nd choice, but that's ok.

that's it for now. i upgraded my computer this week and should be getting my design programs tomorrow. yippee!! so that makes me happy too. then friday i'm having shabbos dinner at a friend's and saturday i'm having a small gathering/party here at my place. happy chanukah!

long time gone...

no. this is not a post about the dixie chicks. But it has been forever (it seems) since i posted last. Things have been... hectic to say the least. First of all... I wanted to post after the election, but to be honest, it hurt too much. Still hurts, but it's over. I'm sure if you're reading this, you know i'm a liberal, and a big Kerry fan. I do want to say that although i love politics, it hurts me very deeply to know that it brings out mean spirits in some people. I respect other's opinions and convictions and would like to think that other people respect mine, but that doesnt seem to be so. You may have your own convictions and you may have things to say, but please don't say them when you're only saying it to degrade and hurt. Anyway... this person knows who he is. Had to vent alittle there... i'm done now.

Thanksgiving was good. It was nice to be home and fed and whatnot, but by sunday, i was alittle ready to go home to connecticut. It was a productive visit though. went shopped with my mom. Found a bridesmaid dress for a wedding I'll be in in May. Also got to have great japanese with a friend from my trip to israel. It was fun to catch up and hang out a bit AND i learned to use chopsticks properly, although my hand hurt a bit by the end of the meal. In other Maryland news, Navy got a bowl bid and will be playing in the Emerald bowl. Found out yesterday that UConn got a bid too and will be playing in the Motorcity Bowl in Detroit. Where the hell did all these bowls come from. what happened to the Rose and Citrus!? Anyway, (GO NAVY! and GO HUSKIES!)

What else is new? I've been working on a new solo in choir and we're singing some really pretty stuff this year. The youth groups i run have been doing really well... well, BBG is great! my girls are so on top of stuff and enthusiastic and i'm just so proud of everything they're doing. They even made their own website. At fall convention we had 13 girls and they all had a great time. even made $275 selling ribbon belts! the other group has been a bit more challenging. we're going bowling on sunday and i hope it'll be a good event. between control freak supervisors and phone calls and code of conduct writing it's been a challenge. but we're under "new management" and i am looking forward to having this event successful and... OVER!

I also hit a bit of a writing stint and pumped out a bunch of Lumi fan fiction.

Oh, i also secured a freelance gig designing a logo and business cards/stationary etc for a friend of a friend who is just starting a real estate business. it's been fun to flex my creative muscles with the logo. i would LOVE a chance to do logo work around here, but it aint gonna happen folks!

ok... i think that's about it. if you're still reading... thanks! ;)

ps. Chanukah begins in 5 days!
